I understand exactly where you're coming from, and I appreciate your desire to be respectful to our Creator. However, I disagree that I am being disrespectful. I love, revere, respect, worship, and pay homage to Father God and Lord Jesus much more than I did during all my years of legalism and external religion.
Does a child show disrespect by calling his or her father "daddy"? Of course not. It is a term of endearment. The Lord has made it clear to me that He wants intimacy with each of us. A personal relationship. Intimacy!
Perhaps you are not aware that Jesus called His Father "Daddy" ("Abba" in Mark 14:36) and that Paul said we have that right as well. Take a look at Romans 8:15: "For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, 'Abba! Father!'" (Also see Galatians 4:6-7.)
"'Abba' is the word framed by the lips of infants, and betokens unreasoning trust. 'Father' expresses an intelligent apprehension of the relationship" (W.E. Vine, An Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words).
As I understand it, "Daddy" is our equivalent to their "Abba." It is a term used by a small child who trusts his father (even while there is so much yet to learn). I am no longer a slave (in bondage to Satan and the kingdom of darkness); I am one of God's little children. I don't have all the answers, but I trust God enough to call Him Daddy and I understand our relationship enough to call Him Father. I love Him with all my heart. And I know that He loves me and that He is pleased with me.
God wants the same kind of relationship with you.
